DMV on Tryon replaced by a newer facility.

Apparently the state has decided to close the DMV office on Tryon. This is an over burdened office and I have been in there were waits of 2+ hours were common. This office will be replaced by a new DMV office that will built at a closed prison on Huntersville - Mt, Holly road. While a new office is welcomed, I question this move as it is a lot less accessable location being located on an mostly obscure two lane road that does not have any direct connections to a major road.

This location is the site of a historic 1930s prison made of stone, but all of the ciminals were moved out of it in 1998 and it has sat empty since then.

Maybe the state wants to sell the Tryon site. Smells like the early stages of a land deal, disguised as "giving the public an enlarged facility".

I'll take my tin foil hat off, if the state re-uses the Tryon site for some other agency.
