A new mixed-use project called The Boardwalk is planned for a 14 acre site at the intersection of I-35 and Northside Drive that also fronts the Trinity River. Groundbreaking could take place in three months on the first phase of the project which will include:

-- a 5-story, 112 room boutique hotel

-- a 5-story 98,000 sf office building

-- 80,000 sf of ground level retail space

-- 105,600 sf of 2nd/3rd story townhomes

Plans for the 1,000 foot stretch of riverfront property are extensive, and include widening the river by 200 feet, the addition of a boardwalk, an amphitheater, a tree-lined boulevard and incorporation of the Trinity Trail system. As of Oct. 16, the estimated cost for the development
