Although not as pretty as a planted median, the turning lane can be used as an extra lane to get people in and out of events in SoBro and the Gulch such as Preds games and, dare I say, the new convention center.

I would doubt that, but it will be interesting to see if during large events they have officers directing traffic down the middle lane at times...

I used the bridge last night en route to a Preds game. It was a nightmare! I dunno if it was just people wanting to use the new bridge, but it was jam packed! Probably won't try it again for a while.

The Preds and the Symphony were going on last night so I would guess you did get stuck a while. Those things happen when we all descend on a place at once (ala rush hours). I plan to check out the new bridge this weekend. Should be about the right experience. I'll do the walk over too and try to imagine the new buildings popping up and think about how future buildings can be integrated into the bridge...future street access and all. As this matures and changes, I think we'll find they did it just about right.

Glad to see the sidewalks and bike lanes. Maybe i'm being overly critical here, but why not put in a planted median? What good is a turning lane on a bridge anyway?
