Just an FYI. Affordable Housing isn’t for poor people. It’s affordable housing, not section 8 hud vouchers or anything.  

I’m not sure how clear that is to everyone. I think some of you are confusing affordable housing with low income housing  

That said, Publix is definitely a place people in affordable housing would shop no problem. 

Edit: affordable housing is up to $1300 rent in Charlotte.

So I work for Publix. And I was talking to managers about this. And apparently “the condos that were planned for this tower were waiting on Publix to officially sign, but Publix has yet to officially sign off with this development yet..” So that might be the reason the condos got pulled from this development. Publix is also seeing a great amount of traffic in its South End location which might be the reason they have yet to sign with this developer. Also I was told that the Publix that is coming soon to South Park is suppose to be a really nice Publix!

Publix where for are thou?  and to note this parcel on N Tryon is not as big as the space behind the Legacy garage on Mint.  Today.   and Publix when will it be my pleasure to shop here?

This would confirm my suspicion that Public might be the hold out. Publix typically moves at tectonic pace.

And I think that’s why Publix is being slow about it. But you would think since SkyHouse is right next door it wouldn’t matter? I will see if I can get anything else about this development! I’m hoping it actually comes!

Publix bought a shopping center in Cocoa Beach in 2011. Shortly thereafter announced plans to refurbish/enlarge the Publix there. Started in 2017.

I'd live at Skyhouse and would never need to leave... Pool/Gym upstairs.  Best coffee house Uptown in Queen City Grounds, Uptown Vet, Primary Care Doctors office, good enough pizza/pasta place and now finally a dentist

SAME. Between their coffee, baked goods, and food menu - from the man behind Fud at Salud (!!!) - Queen City Grounds is all you need daily... then  Sappienza Pizza is just a bonus.

""David Furman of Centro Cityworks, who has been planning a mixed-use project that includes boutique office space and a grocery store in front of SkyHouse Uptown, underlined the importance of having a project like The Ellis in proximity to his land, on North Tryon between Ninth and 10th streets.  Furman has owned that property for years, having acquired it after seeing Tryon Street take off across a long period of growth. Bank of America and its predecessors acquired and developed much of the real estate on Tryon Street, including north of the Square, so it felt like a good bet that North Tryon would continue its trajectory.   But then, coming out of the last recession, center city real estate activity instead concentrated along the Stonewall corridor, South Tryon and South End. “The momentum pulling that way just sucked so hard on this end of town,” Furman said.

The continued hope is the tide is starting to turn. That’s fantastic. It’s simple really, over time and with the growth Charlotte continues to enjoy, it’s the next logical place to develop and has the built-in advantage/cachet of the Tryon namesake.

If there is one thing I’m certain of, it’s that David Furman will deliver the best project that the 10Tryon site can produce, working with the obvious limitations of what the N Tryon corridor is. 

We have so many great projects going on right now, but this one will be one of the most impactful... I’m really looking forward to it getting off the ground.

Does anybody have any suspicions regarding what the "one more little thing" is?  Surely it isn't Publix as some have suggested.  I am anxious for this project to get going too.  I can't wait to see it rising.  Hopefully it truly is a "little thing" that can be resolved soon.

Once this project gets started, I'm sure other developments will soon be announced. I am hoping that the land directly across the street where that coffee shop is could be turned into really nice park similar to Romare Bearden, then all the other parcels to finally one day catch up with the developments...

I think its more leased than that, but I'm pretty sure 2-5 are parking.

So what is the height of this building?  The link shows the space availability for 10 floors, but the image looks like at least 20 stories.
