One side of the road in downtown is Tennessee and the other side is Virginia. Also- some of these were taken on July 4th at one of the tours....while some were taken in April of 2006.

This is downtown Baton Rouge, one of the most unusual downtowns (in my opinion)

Our tallest building is the Louisiana State Capitol, 450 ft. It's been around since 1932. Our oldest building is on Lafayette Street, built way back in the say, sometime in the late 1700's or early 1800's (I think)

Our city is up and jumping between 7 am & 7 pm, but the core of the city still lacks foot traffic. We have residential living downtown, but not in the sense of high rise, true urban living. Downtown has two historic neighborhoods, Beauregard Town & Spanish Town both have its own unique street grid and architectural style.

We have the Mississippi River to the west, I-10 to the south, I-110 {sodEmoji.{sodEmoji.|}} the MLK Jr. Expressway to the east, and Capitol Park & Lake to the north. I almost forgot to mention the castle that sits in the heart of the city. Not many American cities can say they have that.

It is the most exciting skyline between Houston & New Orleans, usually catch people off guard, specially crossing the Mississippi River. This is what we are good for, showing off our square box type buildings & the art deco.

Downtown is changing every day. There is nothing down bout it though. I am proud to show off Baton Rouge & to call it home once again.
