The History Channel had a great show on tonight about a ship that sailed from Middletown and got shipwrecked off the shore of Western Africa in 1815. The plot revolved around Captain James Riley and his crew of the merchant ship Commerce that sailed from Middletown to deliver items to Africa, collect salt from the Cape Verde Islands and return. Their ship gets crushed on rocks off the Western Sahara and they become enslaved by Bedouin tribes. If you guys can catch it, it's an awesome story....
