Yet Another Landmark To Be Destroyed

Just how does the L.D.S. Church get away with the wholesale destruction of Salt Lake City's architectural patrimony? I just learned that the Inn at Temple Square (originally built as the Hotel Vaughan) is to be destroyed. The cumulative effect of the destruction of Salt Lake City's architectural past is not good. Remember the Hotel Newhouse? The Eagle Gate Apartments? One more landmark gone is one too many.
