Rev. Ted Haggard, head of the 30 million member National Association of Evangelicals, a vabidly anti same sex marriage focussed group, has been outed by a male escort!

Rev. Haggard, 50 has stepped down as head of the huge organization, as well as his own 14,000 member church. He is currently "encouraging a full investigation" and is claiming never to have had gay sex. He's also swearing he has been faithful to his wife.

Well folks, the story doesn't stop there. Turns out Rev.Haggard not only purchased sex on a regular basis, he also purchased meth from the escort, Mike Jones, 49. Records exist of the rev. asking for $200 worth of crystal.

This is a man who has been campaigning nationally against same sex marriage. What do ya'll think of this revelation?

Self-hating gays are a large part of the anti-gay movement. I do not understand how people can get this way. I guess it must be an act of serious desparation. But seriously? These people must have no conscience.

In my opinion, I have lost a lot of respect for evangelical churches. They stood by and attacked the Catholic church as they dealt with sex scandals, but it turns out they are really no better when the flowery goggles are pulled away.

If this man is gay, I hope he can come to his senses and get over his self-destructive attitude and just accept himself. It would make the world a much better place.

And then maybe he can become an ELCA Lutheran or Episcopalean where people will accept him and he can still be a Christian.

According to CNN, there has now been "some admission of guilt" by Haggard to Church officials, but not to all the allegations.

This would seem to kill this guy's credibility since just yesterday he emphatically declared he'd never even met this man or ever had a gay relationship.

His accuser is taking a lie detector test live on the air tonight for a Denver news station. Oh the drama!

It makes all the sense in the world when you think about it..........a heterosexual who is comfortable and secure in his/her heterosexuality wouldn't give a damn about other people having gay sex.

People like Haggard are so internally homophobic because of self hatred.

It makes you wonder who else in the christian right movement is gay. Falwell? Robertson? Ralph Reed (if he's not gay underneath all that religion, I'll eat my hat!)

I just hope Falwell and Robertson aren't gay too. That would be a sickening idea.

p.s. if these allegations are not true, then why did he step down from his two leadership posts so quickly????

I can't imagine how many religious self-hating gays are out there. A local religious leader here in SC (can't remember his name) was debating against gay marriages, which will be voted on this election day. He said that he was once gay and has now seen the light, thanks to his faith. I was laughing so hard cause when he opened his mouth, a purse fell out.

At first Haggard denied the whole thing and said he didn't know Jones. How he's saying he bought meth from Jones, but never used it, and that he hired him for a massage. What straight man hires a gay prostitute for a massage?

As for the meth, have you heard the voicemail message Haggard left Jones? He talks about wanting to buy "more" drugs from him... "$200 worth." Doesn't sound like someone who was just curious and got cold feet to me.

Outing is such a controversial thing, and I think almost all of us are ambivalent about it.

But in cases like these, when hypocracy was reaching a critical point, I think the escort did the right thing. When homophobia is used by someone for their own selfish purposes, then revealing them becomes a moral imperative.

Bravo to Mr. Escort!!!
