Union Square Condominiums

This renovated property is the old Union High School, more recently known as West Middle School. It has undergone a swift and amazing transformation. The Union Square property is historically significant as it was Grand Rapids' main high school from 1875 until 1968. This history will remain part of its charm. Reminders will include the original double banister stairways, 12 to 21 foot ceilings, original hardwood maple flooring, and 12-inch oak windowsills. Genuine slate chalkboards, fire drill instructions, trophy cases, school furniture, and some of the old light fixtures will help reinforce the school motif throughout the public areas of the building as well as individual condos.

There were about 4 additions to the building over time! My condo is in 2 separate additions (you can tell the difference in construction in sound transmission)

They kept some original features of the building like fixtures, parts of the original grand staircases. My neighbors are great and the location can't be beat.
