Yeah, nobody really wants to hear that the party's over. Thanks for your succinct summary of his 'action ideas', grtownplanner. If you're in a position to help pull a few heads out of the sand and direct West Michigan's energy and expenditures to any of the Stop/Starts on that list, more power to you.

The best thing about Kunstler is that he was one of the first to do a decent job of articulating what the problems are regarding the landscape and suburbia, and he deserves a lot of credit for that...

As for speakers, I would like to hear Michigan planners, architects and developers talk about real solutions to these issues: Successful regional planning efforts, TDR, form-based zoning, methods to create jobs and housing in the central cities, methods of preventing sprawl that are politically viable, etc.
