NCCU Eagles win second consecutive CIAA Championship

I was at the game this afternoon here in Durham. It was tied 14-14 with :33 on the clock, NCCU ball. Two completions later and with :05 on the clock, Brandon Gilbert nails a 51-yard field goal to win.

51 yards - and it's D-II football!

What's unfortunate is that all three of the Triangle's D-I teams' losses will overshadow this victory. Did I mention the Eagles went 10-0 this season - more wins than all the others combined?

Now I can't help but notice that Carolina and NC State losses and an ECU win are on the front page of newsobserver.com's sports section right now - NCCU's win ain't even on there!
