What sort of shape is Detroit's underground infrastructure in today?

I've read that thread before, and the whole thing is very interesting.

I think the subway would have probably been shut down if it had been built, but I think if it was there, it would be able to be rennovated and brought back.

Does anyone have any money? Let's go build a subway.

I have about 20 bucks of spending money right now, so that's $70. If we invest it in a bribe to get me a job, then I can make more money.

Well you can have $35 and I'll take the other half and we can use it for the same bribe I guess, because I could use a job also.

Does anyone think that if the subway was built, that it would have been expanded to the suburds during the 60's or 70's. Or do you think, like Jasoncw said, it would have just been shut down.

I think it probobly wouldve been expanded, but not below grade in the suburbs.

I'd bet it would've been developed similar to Chicago's system- above ground once it gets away from the City-proper
