What Happened to Condelissa Rice?

So where is Condi these days? It would seem they have put her on ice as she is completely out of the public eye and hasn't been seen before the election. It would seem odd given the fact our President is jet setting around the world while there are so many issues at hand.

Could it be..... Iraq?

Are they distancing her from the rest of the administration and the party for a 2008 presidential run? Perhaps they see Rice as a viable alternative to Hillary Clinton or any other Democratic candidate. She probably has a better chance than anyone else they can round up...

Indeed. Nobody, not even the most zealous supporters of GW Bush, believe that Iraq is anything but a huge disaster based on lies. No doubt they are trying to save her image in hopes of resurrecting the party in 2008. Of course if this is the case then I say that speaks volumes about her real character.

I don't think the character issue is so black and white - her current position requires a certain amount of public support for her boss, and it is possible her mitigating influence is softening an otherwise more dangerous Bush strategy. Where Powell fought the Bush administration and lost, perhaps she is compromising and winning. It would be a role she'd never get credit for filling, but may none-the-less be saving our country from a worse fate, and is therefore far more valuable than some public appearance of sticking by her principles.

There isn't any proof of this, and is mostly wishful thinking on my part, but is possible given what is known of her personal views. At any rate, if she does become a candidate, we'll see her true mettle then.
