Jay Bakker makes acceptance toward gays part of his ministry

Jim and Tammy Faye's son Jay is the head of the christian organization Revolution, which he formed. The bottom line of his ministry is that god doesn't hate. He preaches to people who are pierced and tattooed, or people who happen to be gay or bisexual, people who are metal heads and can't get enough shreeking guitars, and other people who don't fit traditional church sterotypes.

He enjoys ministering to people typically shut out of mainstream churches.

A terrific article on Jay Bakker is in this month's Advocate magazine. It's good reading. One hopes that Jay's example of tolerance and acceptance will be embraced by mainstream christianity some day.
