So what in gods name is the deal with the property that is directly across the highway from the old hamels park (before you get on the jimmy davis bridge)? Are they actually trying to put a business complex there? Are they insane? As if the traffic isnt bad enough as it is?

Maybe its just me but it doesnt make ANY sense.

and speaking of Hamels....just tear down whatever is there. Who in gods name goes to a church that has a friggin log ride next to it? Im guessing someone bought it and isnt paying taxes on it and will sell it to a residental developer?

You wanna talk about dumb? Check out this proposal that will go before the Shreveport MPC at tomorrow's meeting. It's for a proposed retail strip center. One of the worst possible locations (traffic wise) and one of the worst site plans I've ever seen. It's a looooong, triangular piece of property.

You have GOT to see this!!

As much as I hate to be against an infill development, I hope this one is shot down. I can't even envision it along that stretch of road.

I must say I have never seen a thread "titled" like this. I guess I can understand why now. :lol:

It's not dummer than Pinnacle's dumb a$$ proposal for a casino/resort in a dug-out pond on the side of the Mississippi River almost in the middle of nowhere except new nice residential 7 miles south of LSU . With no proper roads and access to it. I think it gets voted down next May. Whole other story.

Dumb things happening everywhere. :blink::sick:

:lol: You make a good point.

By the way, I know I said this strip center is an "infill" project, but that's because I didn't notice that property was outside of the city limits. I thought that whole area was inside the city limits.

And you're not kidding! I turn out of Robert E. Lee Bl onto Barksdale (71) each morning. If you haven't arrived at the intersection by 7:10 am, you must wait for a steady stream of cars to go by. Between 6:30 and 7, and between 7:10 and 8:10, it looks like a L.A. freeway around there with cars and trucks trying to turn onto JD hwy. From there to other side of bridge is a real test of patience. Some cats have taken to racing down the turn lane and cutting in way up there by the next light. And as usual, not a cop in sight.

On into Shreveport the traffic is still bad, but smooths out somewhat. When you go under I-49 toward Linwood you have to watch for motorcycle patrol and at St. Vincent Ave and 70th, 95% of the time the light will turn red. Drives a person crazy, but I work on W. 67th St. so I use the route daily and see everything imaginable in the way of traffic problems.

My dreaded daily traffic nightmare is I-20 from Haughton to I-49 in Shreveport, but most specifically the section from Industrial Drive in Bossier to I-49 in Shreveport. Between Haughton and Bossier it's pretty bad, but once I reach Industrial Drive, I can pretty much count on driving anywhere from 0-35 all the way to I-49. Once I get on I-49, traffic is still somewhat heavy, but the road is wider and easier to maneuver. The I-49 northbound lanes into downtown are where most of I-49's traffic is. Southbound, the direction I travel, is not nearly as bad.

If I leave between 7:00-7:15, traffic is better but still not great. But I have this bad habit of leaving right at 7:30!!

And I do not envy you for having to drive in south Bossier and down 70th every morning and every evening!
