The Boston Globe is reporting that Berklee is looking to build a high-rise dorm building with attached theatre at the site of an existing 2-story building at Boylston and Mass Ave.

The proposed 25- to 30-story complex would replace two buildings, the Berklee Performance Center and a two-story academic building at the corner of Boylston Street and Massachusetts Avenue. At 300,000 square feet, the building would cost roughly $120 million and might include two or three towers.

Would they keep their existing dorms? My brother went to Berklee and stayed in a dorm which was built as the Sherry-Biltmore Hotel. I hope they wouldn't think of tearing it down. I don't doubt that they need new dorm space.

I think they are planning on pulling students out of the existing neighborhoods, but not replacing any of their main dorms along Mass Ave. I'm not certain though.
