The Sheraton New Orleans on Canal Street. The hotel has over 1,200 rooms on 48 floors and is 479 feet tall. Fairly large!

Great pic of the Sheraton. It's so much better looking that the hideous Marriott across the street.

I really can't stand the Marriot either. The river side of the Sheraton is extremely boring, but the opposite side looks quite a bit nicer as there is some variation and movement. On the other hand, the Marriot's color alone makes it look horrible, IMO. And unlike the Sheraton, it's 4 sides of no variation. Nice hotel, ugly facade!

Sumatran Orangutan

A Sumatran Orangutan sits perched atop a branch, head on hands, and watches the children come and go at the Audubon Zoo in Uptown New Orleans.

Sumatran Orangutans are an endangered species, and if their species continues to decline at the current rates in their native habitats, they could be compeltely extinct within 15 years.

Where does everybody park that works in this building. It's quite beautiful but the logistics of parking alone seem formidable. I recall that Wildlife and Fisheries used to be there. Are they still?

Ouch! It still looks pretty beat up from Katrina. Could you tell if it was occupied or vacant at this time. Looks like not much work has been done to it from that picture...other than boarding up windows.

This recording studio is legendary. First opened in '77 and remains closed, post-Katrina. It's on Washington Ave. near Xavier. A lot of greats have put it down here, Fats Domino & the Neville Brothers to name a few.
