Very unfortunate. I used to live in Panama City, Florida and a few students were killed annually during Spring Break from being drunk and climbing balconies. Anyway, sorry for getting off the 3rd Ward topic.

Those are the signs on the opposite sides of the building. So I can only imagine one is red, one is blue. Since their logo is purple, maybe red+blue=purple?

No, both pictures depict the sign on the back side of the building. It only looks different in color in the two shots due to lighting. The sign is purple.

A Dunkin Donuts is going to take some of the ground floor retail space of the office building.

These retail spaces have always bothered me, because you have to enter the office building lobby to get to the retail, instead of giving it its own entrance.

As an uber-dork observation, the streetlighting on the south side of the private drive beteween the Ally building and Catalyst are the standard deluxe acorn design seen in most of Uptown. On the north side of that prive (the Catalyst side) they are just standard acorn streetlights (not full cut off, so they project light upwards). I believe these were made illegal in Uptown, so I wonder how Novare got to put them in. Possibly an error, or perhaps since it is a private drive they are exempt.

I think that street lights are installed by Duke, so it could be an error on their part.

Public Consulting Group which I had previously reported as moving to the NASCAR Plaza from 200 S Tryon will move to 440 S Church St. instead.

Nascar Plaza can't catch a break. I sure hope it gets some more tenants soon. But at least they are staying uptown.

How filled is 440 S Church now?

I walked by 440 S Church this morning and noticed the lobby has a model of the whole block. It's pretty cool - models like this really amaze me. The hotel/condo space is empty except for a little sign that says "Future Hotel/Condo Tower".

Also noticed a fitness room on the corner nearest the stadium on about the 2nd or 3rd floor. Nice. (By contrast, the latest word from Duke is no fitness facility in the new Duke tower.)

Yeah I went to look at a unit there and was pretty shocked. They actually told me 95% but I think its standard for leasing agents to inflate that number a little bit. All of these smaller new apartment buildings in Southend have changed hands recently too...having been to all these places recently I don't think there's any big impact for potential renters, except for some fluctuation of initial fees/deposits and pet policies.

Isn't there supposed to be some retail components to this building too? I haven't heard of anything. One thing that will really increase the value/desirability of this place too is when Romare Bearden Park is completed. Great to hear that this place has filled up never the less.

It's a shame about Novare and no twelve. I prefer to stay at twelve when I'm in ATL. The rooms are spacious, the building is nice, and it's cheap for what you get.

For a 700 square foot apartment with a full kitchen, it's pretty cheap in comparison. It sleeps three and up no problem. When your out of town with a few friends and don't have to eat out three meals a day, it's definitely a deal.

Realestate Bisnow reports that the HaSaki Grill (hibachi-style grill and, ugh, sushi, ugh) will open in the Ally center by September.

You say ugh to sushi...I say its still 50 times better than another upscale american steakhouse. Sushi is not the focus of these hibachi places anyway, so I actually welcome this.

A hibachi grill restaurant will fill a niche here. Tin Tin is the only one in uptown that I recall and it's more of a "to-go" kind of place anyways.
