"With downtown Lexington experiencing a robust revitalization, yet another project was announced yesterday.

A brick warehouse in the South Hill Historic Neighborhood that housed the Blue Grass Cigar Co. for 50 years will be turned into four, upscale loft-style condominiums. The building faces Lawrence Street and extends to South Upper Street."

$200-275 a sq/ft...

So at what point do we start calling South Hill "SoHi"? I crack myself up.

*Also, I think we might need to start saying what South Hill project we are commenting on in the thread title... I have a feeling it's going to get pretty confusing in here with all these projects going on.

I'm glad to see they aren't tearing down everything in South Hill. Some of these structures will make great rehabs adding density and retaining the neighborhood's character.

Although there are a couple other warehouses I wouldn't mind to see razed and redeveloped.

That white warehouse behind CenterCourt would be a great candidate for the next one to go.

Guess what's coming for the corner of South Limestone and Winslow Street?

Parking garage, coming fall 2007.

That means the former church will be demolished. Oh well, as long as there is something else *besides* the church, like retail. Isn't there too many garages in the vicinity? UK has an enormous garage (which could be opened in the evenings for patrons to use - and UK could profit), CenterCourt has a large garage, and now this. All within a one block radius.

Do you know any of the details? Is this going to be a public garage, because CenterCourt is likely to be mostly private and you know how fascist UK is about their parking. I parked by the church today when I went to Kennedy's, and I could see how a public garage could be a boon to the businesses at CenterCourt and along Limestone.

More parking is essential to that area. However I'd like to see it be more than just a garage.

A garage with some residential units or office space on top of it would be great.
