Suntrust Plaza and other news...

It's not tall really, but it's getting pretty sweet looking, especially from Gateway Bridge. The Panera on the corner should keep it lively. I love the granite and glass.

Hank, you should be pretty amazed at the difference since you were here last. I think they're working on 9 or 10 right now.

Back in town for Spring Break, got a chance to drive around downtown today, thought I'd share my two cents...

Coming over the Gateway bridge is a great view right now. SunTrust plaza will be a nice infill there. If anything, from a lot of views it will draw attention to the Ryman because if you look over, you look down and see the Ryman when normally it would have gotten lost from a farther back view.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Hampton...the facade really isn't bad in my opinion. I do wish it was on a corner facing in to the CBD, but it is nice to have something that is opening out there to Gateway since hopefully that will continue to develop.

Encore is rising...exciting to see the tower portion about to begin, of course that can be followed on the construction webcam. It's a nice large base though.

ICON will be visible soon as it starts to rise up a little more. I've stated before that I have trouble visualizing the Gulch and everything down there, I didn't realize that it would be pretty much right next to the Interstate there.

I'm sure there were other things I saw and thought about. For instance, Adelicia is rising quickly and the West End is close to topping out I believe. But it's just exciting to see everything and how much it has changed since I was here 2 months ago. Here's to being even more excited when I come back this summer!

The gray color though is pretty weak. A black or silver roof cap would have been nice.

Tennessean article about UMG group move to SunTrust Plaza

See the attached article about the Universal Music Group moving off of Music Row to the 11th floor of the Sun Trust Plaza. The article states that the building will be over 80% leased! That's good news for office absorption downtown.

I called the 21st Ave Panera and the fellow I talked to said the SunTrust Panera will open December 1. He also said the West End Ave Panera will open at the end of this month.

I always worried that this building would just swamp the Ryman, but it's really not that bad next to it.

Anyone have any idea/info of when Suntrust and the other occupants will be able to start operating out of the tower?

I believe I read somewhere where it's on track for a December occupancy. (For some, I suppose).

There's a sign on the building that say just that....occupancy starting in December.

Noticed a Panera sign on the 5th Ave side entrance and it looks as if they are working on the interior at the moment. Personally I think the Panera would have worked better on the 4th Ave Side
