Downtown Design Charette

2 posts in this topic

The American Institute of Architecture Colorado South recently completed it's downtown design Charette.

I definately recommend taking a look through it if you've got some time, there are some interesting proposals and amusing renderings of "what could be."

I should also point out that the Downtown Development Authority proposal mentioned at the end of the presentation was passed in November. The fact that downtown residents and business leaders agreed to implement a tax on themselves shows the communities desire for change. This town isn't generally in to taxation LOL. I also don't think there will be any problem with getting the 14-Story height limit (which isn't so much law as concept) amended. Hell, Wells Fargo is 15-Stories.

It's so nice to know that there are people actually out there working on this kind of stuff.

Ever feel like you're talking to yourself????

Anyway... Business Journal columnist John Hazelhurst was... to say the least... not impressed. Here's his scathing review of recently announced plans for downtown, including the charette.
