I propose as part of the redevelopment, Dome libertybowl stadium.

Why? we have already have 2 covered stadiums!

Where? All I know of are arenas. I don't know of any football stadiums in our area that are already domed.

either way, we've got great weather in Memphis, we don't really need a domed stadium. And the cost of putting a dome on the the stadium would be ridiculous

Yes we have great weather, but what we don't have is an indoor stadium large enough to host the NCAA FINAL FOUR and large indoor concerts such as the ESSENCE FEST etc. Just a thought.

Also, conventions like COGIC are looking for facilities that can house upwards of 50K under one roof. I agree. We should be preparing for the Liberty Bowl's successor. Preparing doesn't mean building it right away. It means planning for it, the location, design and funding. Ideally retractable roof and natural grass. If we do it right, we're talking not just FFs, but the stature of the Liberty Bowl would be raised. If it were downtown, iti woud secure COGIC and help attract other conventions (see EdJones effect on St. Louis conventions). Who knows what else we could draw . . .

My thoughts exactly, with a downtown dome facility the sky is the limit for regional and national attractions.

The Ed Jones facility is great and was also a extension of their convention center. total cost around 280 million. I believe we could match that. Maybe not now,but certainly in 3-5 years. Those who fail to plan, plan to fail.

The article suggests that this still doesn't eliminate the U of M option of building a new stadium, only that a new stadium won't be built on the fairgrounds.
