Kaimuki - Waialae Ave. an old school "main street"

Recommended Posts

Welcome to Kaimuki along Waialae Avenue

Wai'alae Ave. is not a place you'd want to go to to explore architecture (most are very ugly and run-down) but it is one of the last remaining neighborhood "main street" type of districts in Honolulu. The area used to be home to many Kung Fu theatres and entertainment back in the day. Now its home to an eclectic mix of restaurants & cafes (arguably, some of the best in the city), shops and so on. The area, like other older hoods of the city has experienced a growth in popularity and businesses and with it comes parking troubles. :P Anyhow, here's a little of what i could find of the area.

The building way in the back near the mountain slopes are part of the University of Hawaii and the buildings in that you see closest are a part of the Kaimuki area

^Thanks i'll see what i can dig up. BTW for fairly priced eats of a large variety and a few cool cafes and so on... this area is a cool place to go. Another would be in the growing arts district along Nu'uanu Ave. there are cool Irish pubs, restaurants, bars, galleries, etc. in that area this growing in popularity.
