Greensboro plans for input on growth of DT cultural district

It appears that properties will be opening up for development and local foundations are land banking to prevent undesirable development. I think its great that leaders are doing this. The Weaver Foundation just purchased the largest availble tract yesterday, the former Duke Power site (4.3 acres). A few years back Action Greensboro had proposed that a science museum and IMAX theater be built there. Adjacent to that property is the children's museum and they are planning to expand.

Very forward-thinking. Looks as though the new park will serve as the focal point for the new district, which is what a park/square should do. Now all you guys need is a light-rail stop at the park and you'll be in business.

this is a nice idea! hopefully the city will suggest more developments centered around the tourist (like that science museum proposal) instead of more residential/retail. too bad the civil rights museum wont be included in this district.
