The Revitalization of Fayetteville's Drake Field

This sounds like an interesting and great project for the much slower growing south Fayetteville. After XNA was built in the late 90s Drake Field lost most of it passenger service as well as some of it's cargo services. Over the past few years the airport has seen a dramatic increase in business but still is not making as much money as it used to.

Ray Boudreaux, the airport's economic developer, has announced plans to make the airport and south Fayetteville more profitable. Plans for the airport include a longer runway for larger plains and cargo amounts. A hotel and golf course surrounding the area as well as an aviation community with million dollar homes complete with their own hangers.

Ironically just before this news came out I had some family members who live outside of Arkansas telling me of some airports like this where people have homes with small airport hangers like most people have garages. Sounds like a nice idea to keep things going for Drake.

Yeah there are places like this out west. I'm not sure how common this is though.
