Saddam's Execution

That is nothing but a red herring to distract from the disastrous policies the GOP has brought down on this country while pandering to the corporations, the neo cons, and the religious nuts. The system has gotten that way because that party has made it that way. I am glad that America finally woke up from its sleep and threw the bums out in this past election.

At least an evil man is dead and can nolonger do more evil. Anyway, at this stage of the game it would not matter how the US could have better handled Saddam's end as the rest of the world seems to view the United States as an evil empire anyway. Once a view point like that is established in the minds and hearts of the rest of the world, it will not go away no matter how much kiss-and-make-up the US could do with the nations of world. The only reason this country gets any compilance from the rest of the world is because we have the money and the might to swing a big stick. Take that away, the world would reguard this nation as nothing more than a remote back water inhabited by hillbillies. Thus, if we as Americans are to make this nation a better place be it anything from improving our cities or sending loud and clear messages to our elected politicians to do their jobs to the satifaction of We the People, then these things must be done not to please the rest of the world as they will never be pleased with this country. Any improvments to this country must be done for the sake of we Americans first and for most.

I've always felt that the government's follies are carried out because the majority of the American people don't care about very much than their immediate spheres of existence. The American people are generally apathetic, apolitical and more interested in who won American Idol than thinking about world affairs.

What is the statistic--about 50% of the people vote???

The administration is lawless and corrupt. It wouldn't get away with half the stuff it does if most people would wake up and pay attention.

The guards who taunted and abused Saddam Hussein at his execution have been linked to Muqtada al-Sadr, the Shia militia leader and a supporter of Mr Maliki. "If that's an indication of how Maliki is operating these days, we've got a deeper problem with the bigger effort," a senior US official told The New York Times.

Drudge report is also reporting that video that has come out now shows a large gaping wound in Saddam's throat, as if it had been slit. I thought the video of the hanging had the same eerie quality as the beheading videos, with all the hangman wearing masks and chanting.

This just keeps getting better every day.
