Houston firm Hines purchases IBM building

By KEVIN COLLISON The Kansas City Star

One of the premier Crown Center area office buildings has been purchased by a Houston firm that is becoming a growing presence in the Kansas City real estate market.

Hines Suburban Office Venture, a partnership of Hines, an international developer, and GE Real Estate, has purchased the 28-story building at 2345 Grand Blvd. and an adjoining four-story building. The purchase price was not disclosed.

The office tower, sometimes referred to as the IBM building, is the home of one of the city's largest law firms, Lathrop & Gage, and is 84 percent occupied.
