Would you plant a palm tree on your eastern Tennessee lawn if you knew it would grow? We are trying to spread the word

Very true... However, if I were in the higher elevations of northeast TN (like 2000 ft and over), I would not even attempt it. We are in a metro area here, between 1200-1700 ft, but even like you said, its NORTHeast TN and elevations above 1500 ft. It is truly a risk. I really do not see a problem with hardy palms around here unless we had a really unusually and bitter cold outbreak... one like we have not seen in years. This last cold spell, that night, they forecasted our lows to be between 6-8

Hi, I'm in east tn and would love to have a palm tree ! I'm glad you wrote about them. It's definitely thought by lots of people that they won't grow here. I do love nature, but I don't think bringing in a different plant will do much harm; and this is the way things change. Anyway a big thanks! :offtopic:
