Paradise Properties Offers More Proposals

Paradise Properties has proposed yet another casino complex in Bay St. Louis. This one's called Casino Carnival. After their parade of proposals which have gone nowhere, I view this new proposal with no small amount of skepticism.

Merchant's Bank Building Demolished

While this article addresses the general confusion in the building inspection and permitting process, I was astounded to see the picture of the former Merchant's Bank on Beach Boulevard being demolished. While this building wasn't particularly remarkable in itself, I am surprised that more wasn't done to save it from the backhoe. Another landmark lost. Sigh.

Jacobs Co. Proposes $150m Diamondhead Hotel and Casino

The Jacobs Company proposes a $150m casino and hotel in a residential area which was badly damaged by Katrina. Given that the area has not prospered since the storm, the newly incorporated town of Diamondhead might want to seriously consider the proposal. The hotel shown in the rendering looks as though it is going in the right direction, but even in the rendering, I can see a certain lack of finish on the building which could use improvement. What's wrong with asking for a better design?
