A fountain is just as useless. A dog park in a neighborhood that doesn't have many neighbors doesn't make sense either.

You're right. My bad. A big metal wavy thing is going to bring in a helluva lot more people. I just hope the police are prepared for the crowd that will surely be descending around it.

Perhaps a more significant piece of art can replace this one. Not stealing the design, but something about as monumental as Cloud Gate in Chicago.

Great idea Antrell, I was thinking the same thing!

A dog park in that space would be kinda tacky and I think a large tree would negate the purpose of opening the space up.

Yes, a (dog) park doesn't belong in a plaza. I've always thought that N 22 was a bad location for the bus station, but it does serve mid-city better than any downtown location would do.

And btw---everyones right. How dare I suggest a green space. A big ugly metal circle is sooooooo much nicer. MY BAD!

I believe a green space would work better farther north in the CBD, closer to Spanish Town, and further away from 3rd St. The Greenspace that will connect Memorial stadium to downtown will provide some greenery downtown. A dog park really has no business outside of City Hall and the River Center.

Downtown has its few bums but I agree, the bus station would move alot more bums to the area being that mid-city residents and SBR residents use it frequently. And we all know they aren't the safest, sorry to be so blunt.

I was looking at the DDD powerpoint today and realized that North Blvd would be a good corridor for a street car/rail to run in the center. Maybe its a long-shot for us but the room is there and it could connect to BRCC and the Riverfront.

You make a fantastic point.

But I think with the opportunity and the fact that we don't have bums downtown and addicts roaming around is good. Why bring them to a place we are trying to attract professionals, college grads, and young families? If they were there, so be it, but they aren't, so I doubt a needle exchange would be the last thing to open downtown.
