Possible Winter Weather?

The weather man said the area could see some winter precip before moving out. They said that before Xmas and nothing happened. I'll buy a few batteries and candles just in case.

I had seen that prediction for SBC earlier in the week; then they backed-off of it; now it could be back "on" again???

There is a dramatic drop-off in Current temps. 22- in OKC; 45 in Dallas; 63 in SBC. Oklahoma is catching-it right now with sleet and ice.

highly doubt any winter precip, just rain. Dallas gets it al before it gets to us, but I wouldnt mind seeing coating of the white stuff, just not the ice.

Weather.com tends to think it'll be mostly a rain event with some sleet or freezing rain possible tonight, but KTBS.com says sleet and freezing rain possible throughout the day tomorrow.

I hate how they can differ so much...

how come on weather.com... on the weather map it shows snow all over SBC but there is none?

Good question. Maybe we should ask Richy from Baton Rouge, he seems to be our resident weather expert. I heard that a lot of the precipitation was not making it to the ground because the lower level atmosphere was dry now. Maybe this is what is going on, I don't know though.

That is exactly right. The radar may pick it up the precip a few thousand feet up in the sky; but may not actually be hitting the ground. Our local weather man said the radar can sometimes be over-played or "busier" than it seems. Kind of tricky IMO. The air seems to be a little drier just up to the north of the subtropical-jet stream.

I heard that there is a possibility of winter weather late Sat night into early Sun morning and again during Tuesday. I don't know if anything will happen because they played it up like we were gonna get snow/ice and nothing barely happened.

We got some icy bridges but that was about it. I always try not to take them on their word, because winter precip. in this region is nothing but a guessing game.

That's definitely true. Once the weather man said it wouldn't snow and it ended up being 5 inches of snow on the ground. That was a few years ago.

I never saw anything but rain earlier in the week, but I was driving through Forrest Hills (in Haughton) on Thursday morning looking at houses and a lot of roofs had a good amount of snow or ice on them. My wife and I were like, what the.... I could not tell if it was snow or sleet that had gathered, but it looked like snow to me. Did anyone else see anything?

You're talking about this week? My Haughton subdivision just got rain and a small amount of sleet... nothing stuck.
