A friend and I are planning to do a downtown Raleigh time lapse video. Here are some examples of what we want to try and accomplish.

What you do is take a photo at some set interval, every 2 or 5 seconds perhaps, for a period of time. Then later, you mesh all the pictures together to create a high resolution video that looks like something in fast forward.

I'm looking for feedback from the community about this, especially about locations on where to shoot. We think that getting a mix of car and foot traffic would be perfect so glenwood and Fayetteville St. are options. We need to get on top of a roof or in a location where we can sit with a camera on a tripod for a few hours. Please post any ideas that you may have. We might do this a couple times to try and get it right.

I was walking by the Borough at the Dawson and felt like something about the streetscape was different, so I snapped this photo. Did they just add the bricks? It seems like there may have been a strip of grass there, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, the Triangle folks seem to be less excited about taking snow pics than most other areas. I would have thought there would be a ton of urban snow pics posted by now.

I know for my part that I grew up where we had snow 8 months out of the year and was glad to get rid of it, so I couldn't be happier that its melting! I'd imagine that given the amount of Northerners in the Triangle like myself, you will likely find a similar attitude from others, which could be why there aren't any snow pictures.

I took a snow picture (and videos)... of my dog. Being 2 years old, it was his first time in the snow and he was a bit confused at first, but once he realized how much fun it was he enjoyed it quite a bit (notice the wagging tail)

I'm in Chapel Hill right now. I've got snow pictures, but they're mostly just trees and stuff.

Hopefully someone in Raleigh was prepared this time.

We barely got any. You can see blades of grass through it and the roads are mostly just wet with some ice. I am on the south edge of downtown and drove through to the northern arc of the beltline and it was the same the whole way.

It was only an inch and a half in most places, and it melted quickly off the warm roads, but c'mon. For a March snow, in Raleigh, that's still pretty good.

I'm in far north Raleigh (as in past 540) and there wasn't squat up here either, mostly on the trees and rooftops. Even then, it only stayed until maybe 2pm or so and it was mostly gone.

I got about 2 inches of snow here near the fairgrounds. It stuck around all day yesterday and didn't really melt until about 4pm today.
