Just a quick congratulations to Jim Levitt and his boys down at USF for braking into the Top 25 for the first time in school history. Between USF and UCF, the competition in Florida is getting better every year, and this is a good thing for the state of Florida.

Did any of you see the UT/UCF game on Saturday? Great game, and a good loss for UCF, if there is such a thing. UT is OVERRATED, and should have lost that game!

I was happy to see that Xavier Lee had a chance to play Saturday against Alabama. Isnt it amazing what happens when the better player plays? Im glad Weatherford was benched. If the coaches were only smart enough to have done that...oh I dont know, this time last year, I think the current status of the Seminoles would be very different!

Lee Named Starter!

Will this be a true opportunity or will they yank him after his first bad series? All I'm asking is that they give him the same type of support they've given Drew W. the past two years. He doesn't need the pressure of having someone look over his shoulder ready to pull him out of the game when he makes a mistake or something doesn't go right. Give him the ball and let him work with it until he gets comfortable. He has already proven he's more athletic.

Drew W. was making me wish Chris Rix. At least Rix knew how to make sports center, even when the team was loosing.

Lee named ACC Player of the Week

Oct. 1, 2007

Co-OFFENSIVE BACK--Xavier Lee, Florida State, Quarterback, 6-4, 234, Junior, Daytona Beach, Fla.

Coming in off the bench in the second half of Florida State's game versus Alabama on Saturday, Lee led the Seminoles to three touchdowns and a 21-14 win over the No. 22 Crimson Tide. He finished 12-for-19 in the game for 224 yards and two touchdowns, including a 70-yard scoring pass to De'Cody hagg to ice the game in the fourth quarter.

I bet the young man doesn't know what to do with himself!

Good for the state, and most of all, good for USF. Im glad we only dropped a few spots, but considering 3 out of 4 of our players are a freshman or sophomore, I was pleased with the way we handled the best team in the country last night. I was not impressed with their defense at all, but neither was I too impressed with ours. Its just a lack of consistency which experience will take care of. But Im already excited about the next 3 years and I have to keep telling myself that this is our rebuilding year.

Congrats on the win yesterday, hope you stayed dry if you went.

Edited to add that USC should have dropped out of the top 20 at least after losing when favored by 37 points. I guess the media loves USC.

You make a good point Poonther. Auburn was not ranked when they beat the Gators which makes an even stronger case against the Gators being where they are in the polls. Most teams loosing two consecutive games, no matter how close it was, or how well they played, would have fallen much harder, much faster. If I'm a Gator, I'd be counting my blessings right now.

You have a small point with the Auburn game (who is now #22 and lost to a legitimate #5 USF team and was upset by MSU), with them coming into Gainesville and pulling out a win. But with LSU, the #1 team in the nation and 17 point favorites going into the game and squeaking out a win by 4 in the final minute, they werent going to fall far. When 18 of 22 of your starters are freshmen and sophomores and you play the best team in the country that hard, and none of the media (except for Kirk Herbstreit) give you a shot in hell of being within 21 by halftime, you still get rewarded.

Do you think FSU at 4-1 should be ahead of UF?

Man, you kinda have a way of feeling an upset coming. I knew tonight's FSU v. Wake Forest game would be a loss from the first punt. No excuses made here. The better team on the field won tonights game. They'll live to play another day and hopefully, FSU can escape this season with a respectable record.
