Thank You! I could not have articulated any better. Case closed!!

If only. I saw the family on the news and their defense was that sometimes "he just won't listen to anything we say". Pardon me? When my parents took us out in public, we KNEW what was expected of us. We behaved ourselves or else!

And speaking as a flight attendant, I can tell you I've been in this situation before. A mother couldn't control her 5 year old on a red eye flight from Los Angeles to Charlotte. He wouldn't fasten his seatbelt. She would not make him. She told me repeatedly that "he simply won't listen to me, maybe you can make him do it". I leaned down, fastend it and before I could stand up, he flung off the belt and the buckle hit me in the forehead and put a large bloody gash in my temple. Needless to say, we went back to the gate at LAX and they were escorted off the plane.

I don't want to hear about how the parents of this child are guiltless in this. You choose to have children, you accept the consequences. The entire reason seat belts are on airplanes are for protection. Not just for the passenger, but for everyone else on board. If the aircraft comes to a sudden stop on the ground or if it encounters turbulence in the air, the child becomes a projectile that could not only injure the child, but countless others on board. Trust me, I survived an aircraft accident and I've seen firsthand what happens when people and things are not secured. They fly at high velocity untill soemthing or someone stops them. I have a scar on my leg where something seemingly insignificant like a pair of eyeglasses flew off the head of a first class passenger and lodged themselves into my shin been in an aircraft accident.

If the child can't behave in a public setting for take off and landing, then drive your car or take the train.
