Acting as your own contractor

Recommended Posts

An article from the Greenville News about a national company that has opened their 3rd SC franchise here in Greenville. It's a company called Ubuildit, and it's a company that acts as consultants for people that want to be there own contractor on their house.

Here is the article:

Here is the companies website:

Is this fairly common....for people to act as their own contractor? Would any of you do this? Seems like an idea I'd like to try, but I have nowhere near the skill set. Wouldn't this require some refined skills and knowledge of construction? :dontknow:

It helps to have a solid knowledge of the complete construction process, but I know people who have tried to do this without any prior relative knowledge. I would recommend finding someone you trust (with the knowledge & experience) to help you get through the process. Going alone can be one of the most stressful and discouraging moments in life.
