Yes, it should - the rendering is on the construction fence, and does have a brick facade.

Stuck in traffic in front of the new brewery today. Couldn’t get a good picture of the interior because it was so bright but grabbed a quick shot of the patio. They appear to be really far along as regards the interior, furniture like car stools is visible from the street.

All Latin food is not the same, just like Chinese food is different from Japanese, which is different from Korean. It's not recognizing this that makes our food scene lackluster.  

Sabor is Mexicanish / Dominican / Venezuelan based, Viva Chicken is Peruvian, I believe, and this looks to be Cuban based. Different continents, different countries, different flavors.

Resurrected!  KDC big time developer from  Dallas is marketing 125 Baldwin.   I am on their website looking for their newly announced Hub RTP project (highrises and so forth) and see this attractive building thinking it was in Dallas.  No they are marketing here in Charlotte and KDC is for real and they have the means to develop this tower.

the new 125 Baldwin   be sure to watch the video (I am considering this tower for KJ Diversified Industries HQ2)

KDC don't play around look at their projects around the country and especially in Dallas.   This tower had a thread I thought but could not find one for it.   I am ready to ride my helicopter right on over there after watching the video.

Here is the marketing brochure and this building truly has the best office views.  somewhat unlikely it would ever be blocked sort of the Vue for office buildings.

Somehow I missed there is a hotel also planned for the site. Seems like a good move with Novant basically across the street.

Yes this is really a nice project.   Once it gets closer to construction it will deserve its own thread.  I think this site is attractive for a lot of reasons 1. view into uptown. More low rise campus of CPCC in front of it and not likely to be developed with taller buildings.  2. so close to "decision makers neighborhoods" ie. Myers Park, Eastover, Elizabeth etc. 3. many commuters from south Charlotte drive by it every day to uptown and certain law firms, accounting firms etc may want to be near uptown but dont have to be in the heart of the city.  4. our first large scale streetcar development and one of the few allowed on this side of uptown (due to Novant hospital holdings tying up much of the nearby land)

Is the likely scenario KDC going spec with this, or will they wait for a tenant?  Since it sat for the last few years, I kind of hoping they commit and build on spec.  Great location imo.  As KJ said, many decision makers headed Uptown drive past this everyday, and views are unbeatable.  I just wish Novant or whoever would develop some of the vacant land across the street.  It is sooo underutilized, and the businesses on Elizabeth (Earl's Grocery, Viva, etc.) would benefit tremendously from increased density.

What excites me most about this is the mere fact that it extends, or at least starts to, the skyline and, more importantly, development density south and east from uptown. I'm all for current South End development. I cannot wait to see all of its surface parking lots and mediocre buildings from the '70s and '80s gone. As I've expressed before, my driving motivation is for Charlotte to avoid the mistakes of Atlanta (i.e. ultimately be superior and triumphant!!!), and growth in one general direction, along one major street or road (more or less), does not a true "world class" city make. I remember, decades ago, an article in the Observer about Charlotte development that quoted a planner or designer who was advocating for building off Tryon--this was probably in the '90s--and I remember specifically his saying that development centered on one street was "death" to a city, and that's always stuck with me. I know Charlotte has already managed to avoid that fate, but it's still good to see significant development in all directions from uptown, and not just SW.

KDC it seems to be a developer who does not build a tower on spec.  They look for anchor tenant in this case I would say someone in the 100K sq ft space range.  They do a lot of build  to suits and they did the first high rise office tower in downtown San Antonio in 30 years.  

To me this is a great location.  If you have a meeting or need some face time with someone uptown you hop on the Streetcar and ride up yet have the advantages of being 5-10 minutes closer to home.

I hope this building happens and the street frontage looks even remotely close to those renderings. What a nice place to go get lunch at if you are stuck in Novant or working there.

 

Plus who doesn't love 'The Java Shot' and 'Elm & Oak'.  Two of my most favorite stores. Hard to believe they aren't already in Charlotte to be honest.
