Two Elizabeth (ish) projects. First is the Wieland condo project on site of former Martha Washington Homes. (Maybe someone can up take the slack here and name their South Boulevard project Dolley Madison Flats)

 

 

 

 

 

At Dotger and Randolph a former duplex condo will now be a higher style duplex condo (are these now duettes?) and a single family home.

That vacant lot has been a blight on the neighborhood for too long.  Good to see progress here.

Deck for the Crescent office/retail building in Elizabeth is flying up.

Also really impressed with the new CPCC building. That little quad in there can give most 4 year universities a run for the money. Wish they had some sort of cafe in there to activate that area on weekends.

RE: Crescent office site. I passed by there yesterday but couldn’t stop for a photo. Crane is up. Pre-cast deck appears basically done, including some facade work on the Caswell side. I’ll see if I can get by there this weekend, hopefully one of our more skilled photographers can provide something better than my iPhone,

The Merry Meander alternative to the Elizabeth Holiday Party was held last night. This picture represents everything I love about our historic street car neighborhoods. Community, walkabality, densification. Big thanks to all the organizers and volunteers that made it happen.

drove by the new office building site today in Elizabeth for the first time.  looks like the garage has propped up.  still think it is funny Dollar General is located there.  surprised they have not changed it to their DGX format.

The Dollar General always confused me as well.

The parking garage takes up a lot of that lot. Hardly even seems like there is room for any more building left on the 'corner'

The already miserable intersection here is going to be a nightmare once cars leave this parking garage after work. Not sure why they thought offices would be better than apartments/condos.

Big Ben British Pub has found space in Elizabeth.  Super excited about this new location given I recently moved from South End to a townhome purchase in Wesley Heights, and will now be able to conveniently hop on the street car from West Trade right to my watering hole and back.

That's a great pub.  The new location is fantastic.

Big Ben has been a regular place for me from the time David moved from his burned location on Providence Road maybe ten years ago. I recall driving past the location and seeing a small group of people standing outside what had been a gift shop in the past. I turned in to the parking area on that Sunday and asked the group what their interest was and David says he was opening his restaurant there and I was overjoyed. David died about two years ago and I know not who carries on. 

During the pandemic I was an outside deck diner and the inside had none or few patrons dining, perhaps a few at the bar. WAAAy fewer than in the pre-time. I hope they will open a new patio/deck/street front dining option at this location.

With the Langston apts on the other side, it’s a mini canyon feel there on 7th now with the steel going up.

Most of the steel structure is up now, you can see the curve on the 2nd picture. Will be interesting to see if this is a catalyst for further growth. The whole stretch where Shine salon used to be down the the church is still sitting vacant under one entity.

It’ll be sad when they tear down the Shine Salon building.  That’s a gorgeous house.

Anyone know what's about to be built on the Employee Parking Lot for Presbyterian Medical between Hawthorne and Travis Avenue? It's all fenced off and they're starting to dig up pavement.
