Opera is your chance to dress up if you want, but keep in mind that a) you'll be seated b) in the dark and c) not on stage. Comfortable dress-up clothes if you're adding dinner before or after. Not the place for a bustle or a noisy charm bracelet.

BTW, "opera glasses" are small binoculars with gold trim and mother-of-pearl trim. Bring something similar so you can see the elaborate costumes up close.

A little googling shows that that night is the 'school night' so I'm sure there will be lots of young, under-dressers.

Not in this version. They were both very much alive when the show ended. It was odd, I don't know if they ended early or what (it was just a dress rehearsal with mostly school aged kids in attendance). It was a great show though.
