Ok I decided to do this since there is a two year old question on whether or not there should be a Chicago forum. I don't see any IL forum support from IL residents? Now I can certainly try to drum up some traffic, but it seems like most of the IL traffic comes almost entirely from the Grand Rapids forumers. So if you're out there, speak up.

Alright...I lurk alot here at UP and live spitting distance to Chicago, but haven't really added an significant traffic to the Illinois forum. I've got some threads I could post, though.

I'm from Grand Rapids, MI but have lived in Chicago for a short time twenty years ago and have visited the city from time to time. So I keep tabs on this forum periodically.

I enjoy visiting Illinois, perhaps, us GR forumers frequent this forum, is at least for me anyway, a common weekend vacation spot out of state. However, I certainly would like to see some support from some Illinois forumers, especially to see regular updates on some of the bigger projects going on in the city like the Trump Tower.

I'm in Northwest Indiana right now about an hour from Chicago, but I don't go that often. I posted my phototour of Chicago a few months ago but haven't been back since. I hope this place can get some traffic soon!

I'm a naitive-born Californian living in Texas who has love for Chicago (just not its king - err, mayor, or its handgun laws), and has spent time in Peoria and Bloomington-Normal, as well.

As this site's founder I do wish there was more activity for Chicago and even enough to warrant its own independent Chicago forum. Hopefully that will one day come but UP is known for giving smaller cities a fighting chance that have little or no representation elsewhere and unfortunately or fortunately Chicago isn't in that category.

I would like to say that while I'm not originally from Illinois I did live there for a part of my life and I even consider myself a true Chicagoan at heart. I love the city and visit yearly though I will admit the frequency of my visits to the Illinois forum on UP could certainly improve. Chicago is such a grand city with so much going on and since I no longer live in the middle of it I for one feel that I can't keep up with it all. Chicago is certainly something to be proud of and even though it gets little representation here on UP I can guarantee it is in the heart of many on here given its payback to the world in skyscraper development.

One last thing to note is that UP has grown organically and despite efforts in our past it is impossible for us to forcibly create a forum for any region or city and have that forum be successful. I have no doubt that Chicago will eventually gain a dedicated forum here at UP and I loathe the day when that happens!

OK, so I just moved here from Grand Rapids, which has an awesome forum. I first found out about UP from a link somewhere when I was searching for info about GR. Is there a way to have some of the subjects linked, so when someone is searching something in Chicago, this site comes up?

Just wondering. Also, I might have to start photographing some of the great architecture happening here and simply post the shots. That might generate some more activity.

I might be moving to Chicagoland after college...preferably Oak Park or a similar inner-ring burb like Forest Park...

I live in Chicago, and check out the Chicago forum every so often, but am not as interested in it as the GR forum (where I'm originally from). I get my news on Chicago from Crane's, the Tribune, and the quickley fading Sun Times.
