Building hope of a revival, 3 new houses replace vacant lots

The infill housing, which looks surprisingly nice, was constructed by YouthBuild Louisville, a non-profit organization. It is being done to disperse public housing across the county, which is a trend across the United States to remove the concentration that plagued many projects of the past.

All three have lights on, cars parked outside, mailboxes, doorbells that work -- evidence of vibrancy that had all but disappeared from the block in recent decades.
