photos from today and I agree retail should have been put into the ground floor of the garage at least on the College St side.  Otherwise love the project but just not the garage.

Here are some photos from today.  They’re up to floor 26 with the steel on the south side of the building.  Getting close!

The last pic was taken from the sidewalk outside the Westin on S College.  You can only see the top four floors of the building over that massive garage!

2 things:

they broke a large support column for the parking ramp yesterday. Didn’t get a pic but looked it might have bent with cement cracking off as they tried to lift it off the truck.  And, this is a bad pic, but that’s definitely a crane base going in the pit on the hotel side

I like Ally Center at Tryon Place too but not the garage side of College St.    However the synergy of the hotel, retail and tower and Legacy across the street makes this the new Main and Main location in uptown Charlotte.  Today and steel rising!

KJ - Are you dropping a hint that you’re also in line to become the next CEO of Wells? Can we expect a new combined HQ of “Doughnuts & Dough” in Charlotte?

^^^ I am counting 23 floors from various photos above so I believe few more until topping out.  Plus I see no tree up there.

as for Wells Fargo if I was CEO first thing I would do is move the HQ to Charlotte closer to regulators in DC and NY.  Eliminate all non customer facing jobs in California and move those jobs to Charlotte or Winston Salem or any of their sites across the country outside of California.   They are having some trouble finding a new CEO according to reports I have read in the Wall Street Journal.  With my real estate holdings and other sweet businesses I am afraid I don't have time.    But this CEO search is important for Charlotte for sure.  

I sure wish Ally Bank would announce the obvious their HQ is here in Charlotte where most of their top execs are located and keep the major operations in Detroit but just really designate this city as the HQ.

Despite there being no tree, yes, we are topped out save for the “hat” with the ally signage.

Looking at their career site, they have 127 openings in Charlotte and 59 in Detroit.  Doing similar over the last few years, it was usually fairly even, with Charlotte maybe slightly more, not double.

I suspect the official HQ is announced here once the building is near ready for occupancy, just as Barings did.
