I'm not making a judgment based on 8% of one side being covered with some material. but lets be honest, it probably won't make anyone happy.

I will be happy.  Even if the mechanical is just partially visible, the lighting will further enhance what has become an increasingly impressive nighttime view.  My wife and I were driving back into town late last night after an extended weekend trip, and the skyline was a beautiful, vibrant, and inviting site after a long drive.  This crown will make it even better, especially when lit up in Panther blue like last night.   I was just pointing out the screening doesn't yet seem to extend past the cross-bar, but you are correct it is a quick judgment.  Regardless, the building is a welcome addition to the skyline.

There is but ONE crown in Charlotte and that is at 100 North Tryon at the Bank of America corporate center.  (and who has a rectangle crown?)

Wayyy to early to say what this is gonna look like. The Chrysler building built their crown inside and brought it out during the final phase.

Based on the renderings - I always assumed there would be some degree of translucence. As illustrated in the last shot, that becomes problematic because the vertical braces are clearly visible. Maybe they’ll come through with a back layer to block light so the hat/crown looks a bit more visually consistent. 

Also - I think it would have been better if it wasn’t setback as far as it is. Just my 2 cents. Overall I’m very pleased with this building.

great about the office space last I heard they had a couple of low full floors available.  Any word on the retail?  they have a lot of space and all kinds of non food retail was thrown around.  But haven't heard a word about any of it.

Here’s a photo of the start of the hat from an angle where the sun is shining through it. You can see shadows of the framing. No idea whether this is the finished product materials or just a base material!

all around and from my perch.  Today.  I see the wind screen or "top hat" looks more like a sweatband to me though.  Hotel rising quickly.   Wondering what type of screening there will be on the deck as we need the biggest Wanderwall in the world on this sucker.

What is the final floor count on the hotel?  Thought I read 14 stories on some website yesterday, but I recall an article mentioning 22

I may be in the minority, but I like this better than the original design.  The concrete boxes look amazing.

These white discoloration/drippings are all over the inset horizontals gray (concrete?) sections. Wondering if it can be cleaned off by window washers? Or if it’s a permanent fixture.
