The sweatband is still a see-through sweatband. Everyone said “wait and see,” practice patience, etc... some on here even complained about those of us hoping for something more aesthetically pleasing... 
but as you can see with the brackets, we’re ending up with the existing white “wrap” and the ally logo tacked on. They really botched the crown of this building, in my opinion. The selected material looks cheap and doesn’t match the rest of the building.
It’s looking like the street interaction will be great - so that is promising and I applaud Cresent for that effort.
But remember - We’ve been told to be patient about the deck screening and that hasn’t materialized either - so I’m getting nervous the ugly deck might be what we end up with too - and it’s HIGHLY visible. This is the same company that brought us the world class, 277-facing facade of Novel Stonewall.
I don’t like being critical, but I wish we could expect more from some of our Charlotte-based developers.
We always knew the logo would go up. The critique has been the material used. And it’s no crown.

It’s approved with deck screening they have to deliver screening.

walk by photos today the jewel box retail spot is coming together.  Starbucks or a coffee shop?  Today  the hotel is taller and taller.

I’m more so flabbergasted that the huge deck has zero retail. I’ll adjust to Ally’s crown eventually, but zero retail is just beyond me. There should be a code that requires decks of a certain size in certain areas to be required to have retail. The City is fixing their past mistakes of retail-less parking  garages as we speak. Linear park earned back some brownie points but not many. Dead horse beaten about 100 times over but the crown was not my main issue.  The actual street-level experience for the plaza/Ally/JW seem very promising though.  Going to change the whole vibe of that area.

Walk by and from my almost empty perch the hotel is just a few floors from completion.  Today.  Awaiting the screening for the deck.  Wanderwall Dos?

I know this was temporary but I wish they kept this banner up longer.  Some ppl don't like banners but I think tit's better than bare deck.  I really like ally's color scheme too and it promotes the new MLS team:

Hope the video boards are in play somewhere on this project too.

I would guesstimate in the October to December timeframe that they would begin testing the lights.  Because the RNC is going to happen I would suspect that testing could probably be earlier if Ally cares about capitalizing on the TV / Aerial Coverage of the City.  It’s only a slim chance that happens in my opinion though.

Looks like the JW Marriott is topped out as I saw from the temporary construction elevator.  From street level and my perch today. 

Notice some of the close ups of the "store fronts" of the Ally Center ground floor retail and the jewel box construction.  They look great.   From all angles 

The sweat band aka topper screen close ups LOL.   I think this is one of those things that will look better at night lit up then in the daytime. 

Overall I give this project good marks still very concerned about the screening on the garage.

I’ve haven’t asked any PMs or the head super yet about the parking deck screening, but I have asked a couple of the assistant supers (who are more focused on the up-fits though so they don’t know for sure themselves) There reply is as I’ve expected-“seems that if it was gonna get it it would would have been installed already.” Unless they are waiting until there is less happening in and around the deck I don’t think it’s getting it. Other than the center section with all the squares the deck has “finished” look to it.
