Yo Diaz! 1349 Report post Posted December 10, 2020 That simply can't be the final product...I don’t think the screening is done. Not sure why they’ve stopped. I think of the metal framing spacing is interesting. Also that back corner of the deck can’t be done until the the hotel buck hoists are gone and the building is closed in. My only speculation is that perhaps what ever will over lay the metal is on back order. Due to covid. I know before I pulled off that job back at the end of June there were some decorative exterior materials for the ground floor level of the Ally building there were gonna be delayed for quite awhile. If I remember correctly they were coming from Australia. Perhaps it’s something similar for the final deck screening . All though at this point I don’t think anyone of us here will be satisfied with the final product anyway. The bed skirt at top is growing on me though it looks like it could get ruffled in a high wind event. No way that survives Hugo 2.0, haha.

King of the Queen City 4338 Report post Posted December 13, 2020 J.W. Marriott is one of my favorite parts of this project (not including the garage).
abttown 215 Report post Posted December 13, 2020 Thanks for the pic! From what I can see of it, there appears to be additional screening being added to the garage.
jordan704 887 Report post Posted December 16, 2020 If they were going for it will look better at night. They missed that mark also. The brackets holding the sign make it hard to read irl. 3

JeanClt 124 Report post Posted December 17, 2020 The “crown” is so transparent it is easy to see the bars that hold it up and the braces that hold up the sign. It would have been better if it wasn’t so see through, which contributes to its “cheap” look.
MothBeast 87 Report post Posted December 17, 2020 I assume if it was less transparent the light might not shine through as well?

The concrete exoskeleton is such a cool feature to have on a tower in uptown, and take it up from being another glass box. I cant wait to see the top lit up either.
KJHburg 67772 Report post Posted December 23, 2020 I like the treatment of the retail spaces with varying facades at the ground level and I do as well really like it (only one thing on this block I don't like is the garage) I like the horizontal stripes and I think all 3 major buildings at that end of S Tryon all are different and complement each other. Whether we get a 1000 room hotel or not near the convention center we now have almost 1500 rooms across the street from the convention center in every direction including the big 3 the Westin, the Hilton and this new JW Marriott on this block.
