^^^ Actually since Starwood merged with Marriott both the W and the JW have the same parent company Marriott.  However I think that developer they partnered with has done a JW Marriott in Austin and Indianapolis.

From Monday here are the 2 buildings expected to disappear soon.  The glassy newer building is the old headquarters of Faison a huge development firm at one time that built Eastland and several other malls around the south.

I know your post was about Tryon Place, but BOAT is really starting to get up there, isn't it?  Very exciting!  I am really looking forward to seeing how the retail at Tryon Place integrates with future stages of Legacy Union.

Tryon Place demo work on the 122 E Stonewall Bldg  today.

White Lodging will develop the hotel.  Looking at the hotels they have,  the only one Charlotte does not have downtown is a JW Marriot.   They have one in Austin Texas.

White Lodging is based in Merrillville, Indiana, and develops and manages premium-brand properties with urban designs.

“Charlotte has a young, well-educated workforce and offers a great quality of life; everything we look for in a market that we believe will continue to experience strong, sustainable growth for years to come,” White Lodging CEO of Investments and Developments Deno Yiankes said.
