Thats great about the Goodyear building but what about the Diehl law office on the corner of Stonewall and College?  That is where the hotel and parking deck was going last time I looked. Does that mean it will be built later or what?  Given that Lincoln Harris is full steam ahead on their project is this posturing on Crescent's side or do they have the anchor they need?  Many times first out of the gate wins the prize so to speak unless both have anchors which I wish they do.

I received a message just yesterday that the building is under contract to be purchased.  The last time this parcel was under contract was with Trump, who tried to renegotiate said contract, at which the owners of the building balked and Trump had to pay to break the contract completely.

Should I have ignored the post like everyone else would have? Sure. Probably should have played it that way, but that particular person does that ALL the time and it just rubbed me the wrong way, and the point is UP has a pretty good track record that when there are updates, they're posted. apologies to those offended. 

I'm a couple of weeks behind on this thread, and I realize this issue has been addressed. That said, I think it's worth noting that a lot of people respect your knowledge and opinions about the development industry in Charlotte. When you're in that spotlight your actions and reactions are going to be judged more closely. Its up to you to decide whether or not you want to respond to people in a way that engenders respect. Personally, I like the Golden Rule in these situations. JMHO though.

Long story short: Monsoon (formerly metroboi) left UrbanPlanet after he was stripped of his Admin powers in 2009. That makes the demotion sound more dramatic than it was... but suffice it to say that his heavy handed approach to moderating caused a lot of turmoil here. His status as an administrator made it look particularly bad. He single handedly drove off A LOT valued members, some of whom started their own competing forums (Jacksonville, Oklahoma, etc.), which went directly against what we've been trying to do at UrbanPlanet.org over the years (ie: bring people together to talk about cities and urban development). As far as I know, nobody knows what happened to him. He still has Members+ status, and we would gladly welcome him back, along with anyone who left due to his actions. I hope that despite the occasional disagreement, people see this site as a friendly and welcoming place for all.

BTW, for all the lurkers out there, all you need is an opinion to post. No insider knowledge necessary.

Thats a great post @Spartan I was basically silent from 2008 until this past month because of metroboi's actions as a moderator. I don't miss him (sorry not sorry), but generally this forum is very positive about the city we all care about and thats why I've been lurking for years. On topic to this thread, the Tryon Place project might be the most uncertain left from that era of developments. It remarkable what has been accomplished since then.

Update: Demo crews will be on site next week prepping. Full demo will take place in October while the Panthers are on the road.

Depends. There is a LOTTT of site work to do before actual construction begins. So they need to knock that out ASAP

We have movement on Tryon Place with the planning dept. Utility relocation plans being filed, also a RTAP to the Commercial Plan. First time there has been in any movement since June, 2015

Wow is it possible they might have an anchor tenant like the ones Bank of America is pushing out of the corporate center maybe Moore Van Allen law firm?  Law firms love higher floors which makes this building or the 615 South College buildings good options. Very exciting.

There is some news in that sign Crescent must have appointed JLL the huge nationwide commercial real estate firm to help lease the space. They have contacts with clients worldwide. Very interesting.
