Walk and drive by photos today and there were lots of people uptown including workers working here.  Today the sky was beautiful!  Charlotte Rising!

I'll admit I was a bit bummed when this was announced, but I quite like it now, a very dynamic site with a fancy, new to the market, hotel to boost. Whenever a project doesn't go "exactly" as I pictured it, I always keep in mind that in most other cities, this would be the talk of the town, while here it's just another conversation among many others.  My company is hosting an annual business retreat in Charlotte today and tomorrow, I believe this is the first time holding it here at the Westin, and I can picture some of the reactions. I'm not attending today, but I'll be at the social tomorrow and I'll give some feedback.

When I first started visiting Charlotte in 1995, it was a small, sleepy Southern town.  I was struck by all of the parking lots in Uptown in which you inserted your money into a little box.

When  I first moved to Charlotte in 2008, nothing in that photo existed except for the BoA HQ, the Duke Fortress (which hopefully, will be gone in a few years), and the Westin.  South Tryon was desolate, and yet, look at it now.   Hopefully, we’ll all be around to see what it looks like ten years from now.
