According to the article below, economic conditions have led the project developers to focus initially on building rental apartments, office units, and retail space rather than high-rise condos and riverfront estates. Initial landscaping of the property is expected to begin soon, and developers expect substantial build-out within seven to ten years.

By the way, the easement issue that popped up this summer was dealt with and the contractors paid.

Not sure,I think it is one of the mixed-use developmnets downtown.Savannah River Landing or the one behind it,I think it's called Presidental Square?

Thanks, for the update george. Hopefully the entire first phase will be completed by October 2010 as mentioned in that article.

Back in May 2007, the New York Times ran an article about Savannah River Landing and Oglethorpe's original plan: Savannah Adds to the Master Plan of 1733.

What became of the status of this whole project? I haven't heard anything about SRL in months!

Good question. I'd imagine that the economy would have put a damper on things.

Yep, sad but it looks to still be in limbo. It's now owned by a Canadian public employee pension fund, PSP Investments, which has hired a Jacksonville firm to develop the site. The new owners hoped to resume work by the end of 2010 but that didn't happen.
