The idea is that as this area develops (about 900 acres of developable land - 2,000 residential units) it would keep some traffic off portions of Cawana, Brannen and Burkhalter. It's a long term idea, although people already complain about the amount of traffic on Cawana and backups that occur on Brannen at Cawana. I've never seen many cars when I have been out there.

In ten years it will probably make a lot of sense. I have to give a pat on the back to whoever is thinking ahead for a change.

Well, generally everytime I stop at the traffic light on Brannen heading away from Cawana, the traffic backs up to past Commerce Drive, and then usually you may have to wait two traffic lights because that light is soooo retarded. From an urban planning perspective though I think that the city should make use of all its roads, including Cawana. Basically what they are doing with the right turn in and out Bypass road instead of Cawana access is endorsing an elitist view that Bradford Place deserves to be unbothered with other people who want to use "their" road and "their" scenery. I simply disagree. They should widen Cawana to three lanes ( a middle turning lane for the entire stretch of the road. I am glad they undid the brick requirement and are allowing for 63 homes... I hope the developer still wants to do a Charleston Style neighborhood surrounding the pond, I think that will be HOTT and add a wonderful vista to the Bypass.
