20th Century Fox has asked 16 of the nation's Springfields to compete for the premiere of the Simpsons Movie this July. As you may know, the "Springfield" in which the Simpsons live has never been confirmed to be representative of one specific "Springfield."

I once heard there's a Springfield in every state. Anyone know if there's any truth to that? Anyone here from a Springfield?

It's widely rumored that the Springfield where the Simpons takes place is in Oregon. Eugene is right next door to it as well which acts as Shelbyville.

it would be cool if the movie put an "unofficial/official" location to the show.

There is a semi-official location. It's "northern Kentucky". Ironically there is no Springfield in northern Kentucky, but there is a Simpsonville and Shelbyville right next to each other
